The Director of the Radioactive Waste Agency (ARAO),
Sandi Viršek, and the Director of Riko, Janez Škrabec, signed a contract in
Krško for the construction of the nuclear facilities at the low- and
intermediate-level radioactive waste (LLRW) disposal site in Vrbina.
The consortium ofKolektor, CGP, Kostak and Riko, as the lead partner, was selectedin an international tender as the contractor for the construction of
nuclear facilities in the framework of the Low- and Intermediate-Level
Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility (LLRW) project in Vrbina pri Krškem.
The estimated total costs for the construction of the nuclear facilities amount
to almost 93 million euros and include a repository silo, a hall above the
silo, an administration and service building and a technology facility. The
disposal site will be completed and ready for operation in just under three
years.
At the signing
ceremony, Janez Škrabec, CEO of Riko and lead partner of the consortium,
recognised the outstanding work of the Radioactive Waste Management Agency. It has
prepared a proven and excellent investment project that will ensure a high
level of safety for the environment and life in the immediate and indirect
vicinity of the repository. On behalf of all consortium partners, he emphasised
that the Posavje region will receive the highest quality and safest repository
for low and intermediate level radioactive waste within the agreed timeframe.
