A few days ago,
Hotel Bohinj with its new apearance officially opened its doors. Riko, in
partnership with Tosidos, provided the wooden structure and other construction
and finishing work.
By renovating the Bohinj hotel, Damian Merlak, the
developer, while reviving the Bohinj accommodation facilities, accomplished an
architectural feat, thus enhancing the
hospitality of Lake Bohinj. The perfect location of the hotel, the natural
resources surrounding it and the accommodation history of the town were
successfully integrated in this particular architectural solution by the
architecture bureau Ofis
arhitekti, whereas Riko was entrusted with the preparation of
technological solutions, the implementation of the entire building envelope and
façade. The envelope of the building was retrofitted by installing a new,
improved insulation of the existing construction and energy efficient triple
glazed larch windows. The façade of the hotel has larch cladding with vertical
and horizontal beams with concealed guttering, lightning conductors and other
installations, façade and roof panelling, balcony partition walls, and sliding
and wing shutters. The entire larch cladding is treated with a special coating
to simulate natural accelerated weathering, which over time, will acquire the
natural silver-grey patina. In the interior Riko installed plasterboard
linings, carried out plastering and painting, installed doors in the public
area of the hotel, also mostly in larch cladding, thus completing the design of
the public area, embelished with details inspired by local tradition.
Riko’ wealth of experience in
timber construction has thus been successfully integrated into the entire
retrofit project. We are pleased that the tourist facilities display Riko’s
know-how and sustainable goals. So, Hotel Bohinj now proudly joins the Prekmurje village designed by Riko, and Riko’s Slovenian wooden pavilion at EXPO Dubai 2020 will soon be on display to
the world public.
