Noteworthy
The Sveta Petka hydroelectric power plant, which completely harnesses
the potential of the Treska River with an installed power of 36.4 MW and an expected
yearly output of 66 GWh is a sustainable alternative to the Macedonian energy ssupply,
providing electricity to more than 40,000 residents of the Republic of
Macedonia. The 64 m tall RCC arch dam in the narrow Treska river valley
together with the powerhouse is the first dam of its kind in the region in the
past 25 years, and currently one of the largest investments in electricity
generation in the Western Balkans.
